EV Purchase Rebate & Tax Credits
Vermont offers an EXCELLENT $5,000 purchase rebate for qualifying EV buyers — one of the highest state incentives in the country. This is in addition to the federal IRA credit (up to $7,500). Income limits and MSRP caps may apply; check with your state energy office for current eligibility.
Home Charging Station Incentives
Green Mountain Power offers EV home charger rebates up to $200 and the Bring-Your-Own-Device battery storage program. Vermont EV charger rebate program through VEIC.
Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering
Vermont does not offer a state solar income tax credit. Net metering: Net metering is available in Vermont under 30 V.S.A. § 8010. Excess generation is credited at the retail rate for residential systems up to 500 kW. Vermont has one of the strongest net metering programs in the country.
Additional State Programs
MileageSmart (formerly Drive Electric Vermont) rebate provides up to $5,000 for new battery electric vehicles with MSRP under $50,000. Additional $5,000 available for income-qualified households under 300% FPL through MileageSmart+. Program administered by Efficiency Vermont and Green Mountain Power.
