Abortion is generally BANNED AFTER 18 WEEKS in Utah. This limit is between the early heartbeat laws and the viability standard. Narrow exceptions exist for specific circumstances.

The gestational limit in Utah is 18 weeks of pregnancy (measured from the last menstrual period, unless otherwise specified). Procedures must be initiated before this limit is reached.

Utah's 18-week limit remains in effect after courts blocked the state's trigger ban in 2022. The Utah Supreme Court ruled the state constitution provides some abortion protections. Litigation regarding the scope of those protections continued through 2025.
