Weight Limits
Oregon interstate GVW limit: 80,000 lbs. State highways allow up to 105,500 lbs with proper axle configuration. Per-axle limits: Single axle 20,000 lbs, Tandem axle 34,000 lbs, Tridem axle 42,000 lbs. Federal bridge formula on interstates; Oregon allows higher GVW on state highways with weight-mile tax and extra axles. Enforcement tolerance: No general tolerance on interstates.
Size Limits
Height: 14 ft. Width: 8 ft 6 in. Trailer length: 53 ft (semitrailer). Overall combination length: 105 ft combination (on designated routes for LCVs).
Oversize/Overweight Permits
Oversize/overweight permits through ODOT Motor Carrier online system Fees: Single-trip: $30; Annual: $100+. Virginia oversize permits are not directly honored in Oregon. You will need to obtain a Oregon-specific permit for oversize/overweight loads. Apply online: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/MCT/Pages/Permits.aspx Enforcement: OSP and ODOT enforcement; Green Light weigh-in-motion system for pre-cleared trucks; weight-mile tax audits.
Exemptions
Agricultural: Agricultural vehicles exempt on state highways during harvest season. Timber/Forestry: Timber trucks allowed up to 105,500 lbs on designated state routes; Oregon weight-mile tax applies.
