Florida interstate GVW limit: 80,000 lbs. Per-axle limits: Single axle 22,000 lbs, Tandem axle 44,000 lbs, Tridem axle 42,000 lbs. Federal bridge formula applies; Florida has additional axle weight tables. Enforcement tolerance: No tolerance on interstate; limited tolerance on state roads.
Size Limits
Height: 13 ft 6 in. Width: 8 ft 6 in. Trailer length: 53 ft (semitrailer). Overall combination length: No overall limit for tractor-semitrailer.
Oversize/Overweight Permits
Overweight/Over-Dimension permits through FDOT online system Fees: Single-trip: $15; Annual: $50+. Mississippi oversize permits are not directly honored in Florida. You will need to obtain a Florida-specific permit for oversize/overweight loads. Apply online: https://www.fdot.gov/maintenance/structures/owodpermits.shtm Enforcement: Weigh stations and portable scales; fines start at $10 per 100 lbs overweight.
Exemptions
Agricultural: Agricultural products and farm equipment exempt on non-interstate highways up to 95,000 lbs. Timber/Forestry: Forestry vehicles allowed higher weights on state roads with special permit.
