Minnesota interstate GVW limit: 80,000 lbs. Per-axle limits: Single axle 20,000 lbs, Tandem axle 34,000 lbs, Tridem axle 42,000 lbs. Federal bridge formula applies; Minnesota has additional seasonal bridge posting program. Enforcement tolerance: 10% tolerance on axle weights during spring restrictions.

Oversize/Overweight Permits
Oversize/overweight permits through MnDOT online system Fees: Single-trip: $15; Annual: $60. Maryland oversize permits are not directly honored in Minnesota. You will need to obtain a Minnesota-specific permit for oversize/overweight loads. Apply online: https://www.dot.state.mn.us/cvo/oversize/index.html Enforcement: MnDOT and State Patrol enforcement; weigh stations; fines per pound overweight.
Exemptions
Agricultural: Agricultural vehicles exempt on state highways during planting and harvest; up to 88,000 lbs during harvest season. Timber/Forestry: Timber vehicles allowed higher weights on designated routes.
Seasonal Restrictions
Spring weight restrictions (March-May) reduce weights by 10% on state roads; county roads may have stricter reductions. Check with the state DOT for current postings and dates before planning your route.
