Weight Limits
Utah interstate GVW limit: 80,000 lbs. State highways allow up to 129,000 lbs with proper axle configuration. Per-axle limits: Single axle 20,000 lbs, Tandem axle 34,000 lbs, Tridem axle 42,000 lbs. Federal bridge formula on interstates; Utah allows higher GVW on state routes with proper axle configuration; Longer Combination Vehicles (LCVs) permitted.
Size Limits
Height: 14 ft. Width: 8 ft 6 in. Trailer length: 53 ft (semitrailer). Overall combination length: 105 ft combination (on designated routes for LCVs).
Oversize/Overweight Permits
Special Transportation Permits required for loads exceeding legal limits; only for non-divisible loads Fees: Single-trip: $25; Annual: $100+. Iowa oversize permits are not directly honored in Utah. You will need to obtain a Utah-specific permit for oversize/overweight loads. Apply online: https://www.udot.utah.gov/connect/business/motor-carriers/permits/ Enforcement: UHP and UDOT Port of Entry enforcement; fines based on overweight amount.
Exemptions
Agricultural: Agricultural vehicles exempt on state highways.
