Employee Obligations (Which Returns YOU Must File)

Since Wyoming has no income tax, you won't face double taxation. However, if you physically work in Missouri, you may owe Missouri income tax (Up to 4.7%) and need to file a nonresident Missouri return.

Employer Obligations (What Your Employer Must Withhold & Remit)

Register for withholding and unemployment from day 1. If working in Kansas City or St. Louis, register for city earnings tax. Unemployment applies to the first $10,500 of wages.

City & Local Income Taxes (Extra Filings Beyond the State Return)

Kansas City and St. Louis each charge a 1% earnings tax on all workers including nonresidents. These are the only two Missouri cities with this tax. The tax is renewed by voters every 5 years. The M1CR credit does NOT cover these city taxes.
