Michigan

Michigan does not share any interstate compacts with Oregon. A full separate licensing process will be required for most professions. Michigan's general portability rating is "difficult." IMLC participation continued via Gov. Whitmer signing HB 5455 (PA 6 of 2026) on March 26, 2026 before sunset deadline; NLC legislation introduced in 2025.

Michigan is a member of 2 compacts: Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact. None of these overlap with Oregon's compact memberships.

Neither Oregon nor Michigan are members of the Nurse Licensure Compact. A separate state nursing license is required.

Teaching license portability from Oregon to Michigan: NASDTEC member; reciprocal certification with endorsement review. Most states participate in the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement, but specific requirements vary by state and endorsement area.

Michigan supports PE license comity through NCEES. Licensed Professional Engineers from Oregon can apply for licensure by comity, which is a streamlined process using your NCEES Record. This typically requires verifying your education, exam passage, and experience meet Michigan's requirements.

Expedited processing for military spouses; temporary license within 30 days. Under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), updated December 2024, all states are now required to recognize valid professional licenses from other states for military personnel and their spouses.

Gov. Whitmer signed HB 5455 March 26, 2026 to continue IMLC participation (sunset provision would have ended membership March 28); NLC bill introduced 2025.
