Restricted: ferrets legal in Massachusetts since March 7, 1996. Rabies mandatory per 330 CMR 10.02 for ferrets 6+ months; canine distemper also required at purchase. Mandatory spay/neuter unless licensed breeder. Import/newly-acquired ferrets must be rabies-vaccinated within 30 days of arrival or at 6 months (whichever is later). MA is one of only two states (with RI) mandating distemper vaccination by law.
