EV Purchase Rebate & Tax Credits

Massachusetts offers a GOOD $3,500 purchase rebate for qualifying EV buyers. Combined with the federal IRA credit (up to $7,500), this can substantially reduce your EV purchase price. MSRP limits and income thresholds may apply.

Home Charging Station Incentives

MOR-EV program also covers Level 2 charger rebates. Eversource and National Grid offer additional EVSE rebates up to $200–$700.

Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering

Massachusetts offers a 15% state income tax credit for residential solar installations. Net metering: Net metering is available in Massachusetts under M.G.L. c. 164 §138. Net metering credits apply at the retail rate for residential and commercial systems up to 60 kW. A 2024 bill expanded capacity allocations.

HOV Lane Access for EVs

Massachusetts grants qualifying EVs access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes regardless of passenger count. Check your state DMV for the required clean-fuel vehicle decal or sticker to use this benefit.

Additional State Programs

MOR-EV (Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles) provides $3,500 for new BEVs with MSRP under $55,000, and $1,500 for PHEVs. Income-qualified buyers receive an additional $1,500 (MOR-EV+). Solar tax credit is 15% up to $1,000. HOV access in designated lanes.
