EV Purchase Rebate & Tax Credits

Rhode Island has MINIMAL direct EV purchase incentives. The state may offer HOV lane access, small utility charger rebates, or minor fee waivers, but no significant cash-back program for most buyers. The federal IRA credit (up to $7,500) remains your best incentive here.

Home Charging Station Incentives

National Grid (Rhode Island) offers EV charger rebates up to $400 for residential Level 2 chargers and time-of-use rates.

Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering

Rhode Island does not offer a state solar income tax credit. Net metering: Net metering is available in Rhode Island under RIGL 39-26.4. Excess generation is credited at the full retail rate for residential systems up to 25 kW.

Additional State Programs

Rhode Island's DRIVE EV program provided rebates but was discontinued. As of 2024, the primary state EV benefit is the National Grid charger rebate. Rhode Island OER periodically issues new programs.
