Home Charging Station Incentives

Hawaii State Energy Office and Hawaiian Electric offer EV charger rebates up to $500 for residential Level 2 chargers. Drive Electric Hawaii program provides resources and incentives.

Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering

Hawaii offers a 35% state income tax credit for residential solar installations. Net metering: Net Energy Metering (NEM) is available in Hawaii. Hawaiian Electric administers Smart Export and Customer Grid Supply programs with export rates set by the Public Utilities Commission.

HOV Lane Access for EVs

Hawaii grants qualifying EVs access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes regardless of passenger count. Check your state DMV for the required clean-fuel vehicle decal or sticker to use this benefit.

Additional State Programs

Hawaii offers a 35% state income tax credit for solar energy systems (up to $5,000 residential). General Excise Tax (GET) exemption for EV charging equipment. HOV lane access for EVs on the H-1 freeway.
