EV Purchase Rebate & Tax Credits
Minnesota offers a GOOD $2,500 purchase rebate for qualifying EV buyers. Combined with the federal IRA credit (up to $7,500), this can substantially reduce your EV purchase price. MSRP limits and income thresholds may apply.
Home Charging Station Incentives
Xcel Energy offers an EV Accelerate at Home program with $500 charger rebate and time-of-use rates. Great Plains Energy and other utilities offer EV programs.
Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering
Minnesota does not offer a state solar income tax credit. Net metering: Net metering is available in Minnesota under Minn. Stat. 216B.164. Excess generation is credited at the retail rate for residential systems up to 40 kW.
Additional State Programs
Minnesota Electric Vehicle Rebate Act (HF 2887/SF 2699, enacted 2023) established a $2,500 rebate for new EVs with MSRP under $55,000 (sedans) or $80,000 (trucks/SUVs) starting in 2024. An additional $2,500 is available for income-qualified buyers (under 150% AMI). Program administered by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
