Maine offers a MODERATE $2,000 state incentive for EV buyers. This may be income-restricted or subject to vehicle eligibility caps. See below for sales tax exemption and charging incentives, which may add additional value.
Home Charging Station Incentives
Efficiency Maine offers EV charger rebates up to $400 for Level 2 home chargers. Electric utilities also offer time-of-use rates.
Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering
Maine does not offer a state solar income tax credit. Net metering: Net energy billing is available in Maine under the Maine Public Utilities Commission. Excess generation is credited at the full retail rate for systems up to 660 kW.
Additional State Programs
Efficiency Maine Charge Up Rebate offers $2,000 for income-qualified buyers (under 300% federal poverty level) and $1,000 for all other buyers on new BEVs. The income-qualified tier brings this to moderate. Point-of-sale rebate administered by Efficiency Maine.
