EV Purchase Rebate & Tax Credits
Colorado offers an EXCELLENT $5,000 state income tax credit for qualifying EV buyers — one of the highest state incentives in the country. This is in addition to the federal IRA credit (up to $7,500). Income limits and MSRP caps may apply; check with your state energy office for current eligibility.
Home Charging Station Incentives
Xcel Energy offers $500 rebate for Level 2 charger purchase/installation. Additional utility rebates available.
Solar Tax Credit & Net Metering
Colorado does not offer a state solar income tax credit. Net metering: Net metering is available in Colorado under Colorado Revised Statutes 40-2-124. Excess generation is credited at the full retail rate for residential systems up to 120% of annual consumption.
HOV Lane Access for EVs
Colorado grants qualifying EVs access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes regardless of passenger count. Check your state DMV for the required clean-fuel vehicle decal or sticker to use this benefit.
Additional State Programs
Colorado offers a $5,000 state income tax credit for new EV purchase under HB23-1272. An additional $2,500 credit is available for income-qualified buyers (under 80% AMI). Leased EVs qualify for a $3,500 credit. HOV lane access via Clean Air Vehicle decal.
