Florida has constitutional carry (permitless carry). Anyone legally allowed to possess a firearm can carry concealed without a permit. Your West Virginia permit is not required but may still be useful for other purposes.

Florida permit type: Constitutional Carry. No permit needed — Florida allows permitless carry for anyone 21+ who can legally possess a firearm. Minimum age: 21. Training required: Yes. Non-resident permits available (fee: $97). Must be 21+, complete firearms training course, pass background check, no felony convictions, no domestic violence convictions

In Florida, concealed carry is prohibited in the following locations: Schools, courthouses, police stations, jails, bars (posted), airports (past security), government meetings, career centers. Open carry now permitted statewide except in these restricted locations (post-McDaniels v. State, Sept 2025).. Always check for posted signage and comply with all local restrictions. Federal gun-free zones (federal buildings, post offices, military installations) apply nationwide regardless of state permits.

Constitutional carry (HB 543) effective July 1, 2023 — permitless concealed carry for eligible persons 21+. Open carry ban struck down as unconstitutional by First DCA on September 10, 2025 (McDaniels v. State); state AG declined to appeal; open carry now permitted in non-restricted areas statewide.
