New York permit type: May-Issue. Minimum age: 21. Training required: Yes. Non-resident permits are NOT available from New York. Must be 21+, 16-hour training course with live fire, pass background check, character references, interview with judge or licensing officer

Where You Cannot Carry (Even With a Valid Permit)

In New York, concealed carry is prohibited in the following locations: Schools, government buildings, courthouses, bars, public transit, Times Square, parks, playgrounds, entertainment venues, places of worship, medical facilities, homeless shelters, airports, summer camps. Always check for posted signage and comply with all local restrictions. Federal gun-free zones (federal buildings, post offices, military installations) apply nationwide regardless of state permits.
